Routines

I love how Katie is learning so much and understands much of what we say to her.  We have our after school routine that starts with me asking her where we are when we pull into the garage.  She still repeats me and says "are we?"  Then I tell her "We're home!" and she says "home".

She closes the door behind us...

Next we let the dogs outside and she helps me feed them.  If she spills their food, she picks it up (one piece at a time... we're working on grabbing handfuls) and puts it back in the right bowl.  You can hear the dogs are anxiously awaiting their dinner.

I apologize for the poor video taping.  I was trying to tape and help her at the same time.  I taped this before Andy was home from work.

"Katie, lets take off our shoes!"

"Put your shoes in the closet."

"Now close the door."

"Where do your socks go?"

Now it's cuddle time with Mommy while Katie eats her afternoon snack.

We dropped her afternoon nap this week and she's done pretty good.  She goes to sleep about an hour-and hour and a half earlier and she falls asleep within 5 minutes.  She used to stay up almost an hour every night either rocking with me or playing in her crib.  No more of that!

Mommy and Katie day at the Arboretum

Today was the best day ever!  Katie and I had some girl time hanging out at the arboretum.  It was so nice to relax, take our time looking at the beautiful flowers, listening to a jazz band while having a picnic snack, and getting some great Katie pictures.  We definitely have to do this more often.

Here are a few of my favorite pictures.
I took over 150 pictures and had a hard time picking out my favorites so here's a slideshow of them.
Chasing birds and our picnic snack.

Rangers Opening Day

We always like to go to the Rangers home opener and make a day of it.  We get there early, cook hotdogs, and just relax until the game.
This year Cowboy Mouth played a little concert before the game.  Katie was more interested in picking dandelions than anything else.  But she liked the music too.

She did really good for the game.  She slept for a little bit (until the really loud bombers flew over and woke her up.)  She liked cheering when everyone else cheered.
She even made a friend at the game.

Easter 2010

Easter was fun this year.  The church service was really good and Andy and I both served after the church service.  I love volunteering in the nursery.
After lunch, Katie checked out her Easter basket and hunted for eggs.  All she wanted to do was play with the magnetic alphabet the Easter bunny brought.
She finally realized that there were some hidden eggs and had fun finding those and putting them in her bunny basket they made at school.
Making bracelets with Easter grass.
Here's a video (it's kind of long) from Easter Sunday.  There's video of her playing with her alphabet magnets from the Easter bunny, looking for eggs, enjoying her chocolate, and watching her new Veggie Tales DVD.  It was a pretty quiet afternoon.  I guess she was just soaking it all in, but she barely said a word.

Katie Bug

She's not a baby anymore.  She's getting so big!
At the park with Miller
Chocolate Chip Pancakes... Yum Yum!
Happy Spring!

Egg Dying

She loved throwing the eggs in the dye.
Eating her 1st hard boiled egg.  She only likes the yolk.

Easter Egg Hunting

This year Katie went to her first Easter Egg Hunt (wearing the new outfit I made her.)

Waiting for the 2 and under hunt to begin.
Poor thing.  All the parents in front of us were grabbing handfuls and throwing stuff in their babies baskets.  We were only about 3 people deep in the crowd and the ground was bare when we got on the field.  Katie wasn't very thrilled about this egg hunt thing.  She got 2 candy eggs (and one of those was because another kid put one in her basket.)
So we stayed for the 3-4 year old hunt next.  That one was much better.
Some sweet little kids were emptying the candy out of their eggs and offered the empty shells for Katie.  That worked out perfect because they only wanted the candy and Katie only wanted the plastic eggs.  She had a blast putting all those pastic egg shells in her basket!
We ended up having a good time, but I don't think we'll go to the big city egg hunt again.  From now on I think we'll do our own egg hunts with our friends.
