Katie Faith's First Day Home

It's so surreal to take your 1st baby home. The bonnet she has on is the magic hanky that I got at one of my showers. If you're not familiar with the magic hankey, check out my post in August. It comes with a super sweet poem and she'll use the same hanky in her wedding.

Finally home!

I love my grandparents!

We were so fortunate to have all of Katie's grandparents here in her 1st few days. She is so loved!

Katie Faith's Birthday

Katie was born at 4:56 today, Wednesday, September 24, 2008. She was 7 lbs 14 oz and 20 inches long. She has lots of brown hair with blond highlights and some curls. I love it! We're so proud to be new parents of a beautiful baby girl. But we're pretty exhausted. We'll get more pictures up soon. So be sure to check back.

The Last Preggo Picture

Well I never got any prego pictures on here. Andy took these Thursday night so this is the most pregnant picture I'll have. I was 37 weeks and 1 day when we took this.

No wonder everyone keeps looking at me and telling me I look like I'm going to pop. I'm HUGE!

Update on Katie

Tonight they're going to get things going. They're going to take me to labor and delivery around 10:00 tonight and give me "sidatech" (sp?) that's supposed to "get things ready." Then at about 7:30 or 8:00 tomorrow morning they plan to start pitocin (sp?) to start inducing!

Only 2 More Days!

Well, my doctor sent me to labor and delivery Friday after school because I haven't been feeling Katie move as much this week as I had been before. They hooked her up to the monitors and she's doing great. I'm retaining a lot of fluid again and that's why I can't feel her all the time.

They also saw in a sonogram that the cord is around her neck. The doctors said, although that always scares the parents to death, it's actually very common and not a big deal. They even have "regular" deliveries with the cord around the neck all the time and everything's OK. The horror stories you hear are very uncommon. That's why they monitor mom and baby so closely in labor and delivery.

So with the combination of the cord, my fluid, and my inability to feel her move much they decided to keep me here until they induce on Wednesday!

Katie's doing so well they took her off the monitors and are just checking her 3 times a day now. I'm much more comfortable now without those monitors on my belly. I'm just hanging out watching lots of TV and Friends! I can't believe in just 2 days we'll be inducing!

We'll post updates and pictures when Katie's here. So make sure and check back at the end of the week!

Kids Say the Darndest Things Part 2

My school staff is having a baby shower for me this afternoon. As my students walked in this morning, one of them told me I'm having a "funeral" today. I asked her what she meant and she said, "Mrs. Hand (our art teacher) told me that you're having a baby funeral today." I quickly let her know it's called a baby shower!

Never a dull moment with first graders! :)

Kids Say the Darndest Things

So now that I'm only 4 weeks away from my due date and Katie's getting pretty big, I have the problem of my pants not covering my preggo belly and my shirts just kind of hang from the biggest part of my tummy.

I had my 1st student today inform me of this! She very politely raised her hand to tell me, "Mrs. Knapp, when I was tying my shoe, I kind of saw your tummy. So you might want to pul your pants up and pull your shirt down." LOL

What are you gonna do!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Yesterday was my birthday and it was a great one. I have to say I love my husband so much! He's so sweet. Besides the sweet card from him, my brithday presents, and our nice dinner together, he also remembered Katie.

He said Katie told him while I was sleeping that she wanted to get me a birthday present too. So naturally I cried when I opened my birthday card from Katie with an itunes gift card.

Thank you, Andy, for making my birthday so special! I love you!

Back to October 8th!

Well, I talked to my dr today and I've decided to wait out the pregnancy and try to let it happen on it's own. In our Prepared Childbirth class they said inducing can sometimes lead to c-section which I'm hoping to NOT do. So we're not planning to induce early anymore. If she's not here on her due date... Oct. 8th, then we'll go ahead and induce.

Of coarse, this could all change in the next several weeks as I go to my appointments. If she continues to grow and my dr thinks I may have to have a c-section due to her size, we can always decide at a later date to induce. But for now, I'm going to try to wait until her due date and see if it happens on it's own.
