Easter 2010

Easter was fun this year.  The church service was really good and Andy and I both served after the church service.  I love volunteering in the nursery.
After lunch, Katie checked out her Easter basket and hunted for eggs.  All she wanted to do was play with the magnetic alphabet the Easter bunny brought.
She finally realized that there were some hidden eggs and had fun finding those and putting them in her bunny basket they made at school.
Making bracelets with Easter grass.
Here's a video (it's kind of long) from Easter Sunday.  There's video of her playing with her alphabet magnets from the Easter bunny, looking for eggs, enjoying her chocolate, and watching her new Veggie Tales DVD.  It was a pretty quiet afternoon.  I guess she was just soaking it all in, but she barely said a word.

Katie Bug

She's not a baby anymore.  She's getting so big!
At the park with Miller
Chocolate Chip Pancakes... Yum Yum!
Happy Spring!

Egg Dying

She loved throwing the eggs in the dye.
Eating her 1st hard boiled egg.  She only likes the yolk.

Easter Egg Hunting

This year Katie went to her first Easter Egg Hunt (wearing the new outfit I made her.)

Waiting for the 2 and under hunt to begin.
Poor thing.  All the parents in front of us were grabbing handfuls and throwing stuff in their babies baskets.  We were only about 3 people deep in the crowd and the ground was bare when we got on the field.  Katie wasn't very thrilled about this egg hunt thing.  She got 2 candy eggs (and one of those was because another kid put one in her basket.)
So we stayed for the 3-4 year old hunt next.  That one was much better.
Some sweet little kids were emptying the candy out of their eggs and offered the empty shells for Katie.  That worked out perfect because they only wanted the candy and Katie only wanted the plastic eggs.  She had a blast putting all those pastic egg shells in her basket!
We ended up having a good time, but I don't think we'll go to the big city egg hunt again.  From now on I think we'll do our own egg hunts with our friends.

Bye Bye Colorado- Skiing and Gondola Ride

The skiing was great but the 2nd and 3rd day was pretty hot and the spring break lines were long.  We learned a valuable lesson... age is taking it's toll on us.  We were so out of shape and so sore after our 1st day.  Each day after that was easier and easier, but lesson learned-- next time we go skiing, we spend some time in the gym working out our legs before the trip.

Katie "skiing" with Andy at the bottom of peak 9 (Breckenridge.)

We also took her on a Gondola ride. She was so cute. Each time we slowed down or sped up at one of the drop off stations, the Gondola rocked and Katie said "Whoa!" That's her new word she says a lot and I love it. :)

"Woah!"
I love that smile!  And what a beautiful view from the balcony of my parents' condo.

More Colorado- Hanging out in Breckenridge

Katie and Mimi took a walk down Main Street in Breckenridge while Andy and I skied.  They walked a block and a half, ate some crepes, then walked back.  By the time they got back to the truck, this is what Katie looked like.  She was out cold!
After a short nap (and a trip to Walmart for a stroller), Mimi and I took Katie on a horse and buggy ride.  She loves horses in books so I was surprised when she didn't want to pet the real horse.  But I think she enjoyed the ride and pointed to the horse several times saying, "Neigh!"

Then we went to Peak A Boo Toy.  They have a cute little play area that Katie loves.

Katie rocking on the dragon.

Katie riding the big rocking horse.  (See a theme here yet?)

Coloring a pretty picture.

Playing on the octopus playground.
Mimi, Andy, and I had a really good dinner at Bubba Gumps.  Katie's meal almost all ended up on the floor!  That's the bad habit she's learned from having dogs at home to eat the food she throws on the floor.  She thinks it's hilarious.  We don't think it's so funny... especially in restaurants!

Colorado Vacation- Sledding

Over Spring Break we went to my parents' condo in Colorado.  We had a lot of fun skiing and lots of fun with Katie too.  Mimi came with us to babysit while Andy and I skied in the mornings then we all spent the afternoons together enjoying Breckenridge together.

We took Katie sledding for the first time and she loved it.  When we got to the bottom of the hill she would cry because she didn't want to stop.  She even started fussing when I stopped to catch my breath climbing back up the hill with her.  Then when we got to the top, she sat down on the sled before we could even get on them ourselves.
Look at the view!
After sledding, we played in the snow a little bit.  We bought a snowball maker that made perfect snowballs.

February Snow 3/1/10 at OneTrueMedia.com

Apparently I ask a lot of questions when I talk to Kaite. I didn't realize how much I do that until I played back the video.

When she's standing at the door talking, I have no idea what she's trying to say but she sure seems to know exactly what she's saying. So funny.

We finally got Katie a "leash"!  Ha!  She actually loves it.  But it's funny to see people's reactions to it.  Some people with laugh and others will give you the worst look like you're being cruel.  I have to say the 1st time I saw someone use one of these I thought it was kind of mean.  But having a 1 year old who wants to run free all over the place, the "leash" is totally worth it.  Little Miss Independent doesn't want to hold our hand and with the leash she has her independence but we know we won't lose her.  Everybody wins.

Anyway, I thought these pictures were cute of her running all over the mall.
