We made it to my parents' condo at about midnight Saturday night and either I got a virus or food poisoning, but I spent all day Sunday on the couch and in bed with a terrible stomach ache. Fortunately it only lasted the one day and we still had 5 more days to get out in the nice cool weather. The highs for the week were in the high 50s and 60s and at night it got down in the 40s (and probably even into the 30s)! A great change from out 100+ weather we're used to in the summers here! Katie had some issues too. She must be allergic to something that grows in Colorado in the summer because as soon as we got there her nose started running and she had puffy, red, watery eyes worse than I've ever seen her. Her poor little nose was just raw by the end of the week from running so much and us wiping it all week. She's such a trooper though. She didn't fuss about it except for when we were cleaning her nose. She hates that! As soon as we got back to Amarillo on our way home she was so much better and she was completely over it all when we got home yesterday.
On Monday we got out and went fishing at Officer's Gulch, a really great pond just right up the highway from Silverthorne (where we stayed.) We loaded her up on sunscreen and let her play in her exersaucer while she watched us fish. She did so good. That was probably the most useful thing we brought with us on this trip. When she was ready for a nap, we were able to nap in the truck with the windows down and just let the breeze blow through. We could NEVER do that in our summer heat here!Andy caught the 1st fish of the week and Katie was definitely curious about that thing. Here fishy, fishy!
Chillin' at the condo drinking her bottle. I love this picture. She looks so comfortable and content.
