I put Katie on her tummy today and when she started fussing, I DIDN'T PICK HER UP! And surprise to me... she rolled over! I tried again wondering if it was just by accicent and she rolled over 7 times! We stopped because it was time to feed her and I knew she was hungry. When Andy got home we tried again and she kept on rolling over. I didn't think she was even close to this, but I guess she's mastered rolling from tummy to back.
At the end of the video is a short clip of Katie playing with Andy's new iphone. He has a game on there where you touch the screen to pop the bubble wrap. She was popping bubble wrap until I turned the camera on. Then she wasn't touching the screen, but still cute, reaching for the phone.

Look at my Big Girl!
Every day when we get home from school I give Katie some tummy time to help her practice rolling over and we practice sitting up. She's nowhere close to rolling over. I'm sure because I never gave her tummy time much until the past couple of weeks. As soon as she would start getting fussy, I would pick her up. But she's getting pretty good at sitting up (with my help getting her balance 1st of coarse.)
She's growing so fast. Just thinking back to Christmas, only 2 months ago, she's doing SO much more now than she was then. It's amazing how much they change in just 1-2 months!Pooped Out
We've had a super busy weekend so far. Last night Katie and I went to dinner with some family that had come to visit from out of town. It was about an hour drive there (in traffic) and about 45 minutes home. Katie was so alert the whole time. If there is anything going on, she wants to be awake and watching! It was so nice to hang out with family that I don't get to see enough as I would like.
By the time we got home it was about 9:30 and 10:00 before Katie finally fell asleep! Despite staying up so late, she still woke up at her usual 7:00 and stayed up to play for a little while. I put her down after about an hour to play with her favorite musical toy and she fell asleep while she was laying there with it. She was pooped out from staying up so late last night. :)

Happy Valentines Day
Today Katie got a new Valentine stuffed animal from her Memaw. She loves it.
Andy and I usually go out to eat for Valentines, but we plan to go tomorrow night so we can miss the big crowds and long wait. So tonight we stayed in and ordered pizza. Papa Johns had a Valentine special with a heart shaped pizza and some chocolate dessert things. I thought that was really cute.
Daddy and Bows
One of Katie's favorite things to do with Andy is to grab his gotee (sp?). She's fascinated with it. I keep telling him she's trying to pull it off to get rid of it. HaHa
She's got enough hair now that she can wear barretts straight in her hair and they stay in all day! I've had fun dressing her with little bows this week but she only had a few of them. Today I bought some more really cute ones. I can't wait to let her wear them.

Baby Dedication
Last weekend my nephew, Beck had his baby dedication at church. It was a great day with family. We all went to lunch afterward and had a great time.

Nice Weekend
We had a lot of fun this weekend. I finally had time to finish Katie's pillow I started making over the Christmas break. She loves it.

Saturday the weather was great so we took Katie for a walk around the neighborhood. It was the 1st time we sat her up in her stroller without her carrier in it. She was awake and looking around for most of the walk, but by the time we got home she had fallen asleep with her new favorite toy (her rattle she got for Christmas) in her hand. The Tigger next to her is her other new favorite toy. They're both small enough for her to grab them and put in her mouth so she really likes those.

First Food!
The dr told Andy this week that it's time for us to start Katie on some rice cereal. Tonight we tried it for the 1st time. I think she may have liked it. She just didn't know how to eat it. I'm not sure if she swallowed any of it.

Daisy is so fascinated with Katie but when we move Katie towards her, she backs up. It's almost like she's scared of her. 
4 Months!
Katie had her 4 month check up this past Monday. She's 12 lbs 10 oz (25%) and 24.3 inches long (70%). She got another round of 4 shots. Andy took her this time and said he was surprised after the 1st one. She didn't even seem to notice. The thought, "wow, this isn't bad at all." Then they stuck her with the 2nd shot and it was all over. She screamed, turned beat red, and cried until they got outside and she felt the wind on her face. But this time she was good the rest of the afternoon. She got to stay home with her Daddy all day on Monday. Then 2 hours after she got to daycare Tuesday, they called and said they were closing due to the icy weather. Today school was cancelled for me. So she's only going to have a 2 day week at daycare this week. Yea!

12 1/2 Hours!
Katie's been sleeping in her bassinet in our room at night (more for convenience for me waking up to feed her throughout the night more than anything else.) I know, I know. You other mommies out there probably think I'm crazy for keeping her in our room so long. But actually the SIDS organization suggests 6 months! So I think I'm doing pretty good letting her go to her room at 3 1/2. HaHa
She's slept about 6 hours a night since she was about 2 weeks old, but finally started sleeping 9-10 hours over the Christmas holidays for a good solid 2 1/2 weeks.
So we tried putting her in her crib last Saturday and she woke up every 3-5 hours and ended up back in her bassinet at about 3am. Turns out she was getting sick and has been waking up earlier and earlier all week long. Eating at 7pm and waking up at about 5am. Still about 10 hours, but not very convenient for me. I even woke her up and fed her at midnight a couple of nights ago so that 9 hours would allow me to sleep in longer and she still woke up at 4:45am!
Well since we have a long weekend, we tried her crib again last night and she slept for 12 1/2 hours! She would've slept longer, but it kind of freaked me out. I started to wonder if the monitor wasn't working or something so I went to check on her and she was sound asleep! I went ahead and woke her up to feed her because I was up and I knew she would be hungry. She ate at 7pm last night and didn't eat again until 7:20 this morning!
I slept a lot better too because I didn't hear her roling over and stuff throughout the night. Andy and I were also able to watch tv before going to bed and didn't have to worry about keeping it down so we don't wake up Katie (although, once she's out, she's out. You can be pretty loud and she'll sleep through it.)
I think we've been very blessed with a really good baby. All the things I've done that I thought would come back to bite me (giving her a pacifier all the time, rocking her to sleep sometimes, not putting her in her crib until 3 months, not scheduling or giving her a bedtime) have all resolved themselves. She transitioned to her bed with no problems, she puts herself to sleep on her own at night and for naps with ease, she barely takes the pacifier anymore (she'll keep it for about 30 seconds to calm down when she's upset then spits it out and is fine without it), she's set her own bedtime at around 7:30. That's just when she gets sleepy. Not by our choosing, but that's what she started doing on her own. They say the scheduling helps them sleep through the night sooner, but I considered 6 hours at 2 weeks to be pretty good and I think 3 months sleeping 9-12 hours is good too.
It's fun to see that she's getting her own personality already. She's very independent! I thought holding her constantly for 3 months would have some side effects too and make her very dependent and clingy. Not with this little one! There are times she'll let me hold her and cuddle with her, but there are definitely times she just wants to be alone and does not want to be held! It's funny how they're simply born with these personality traits and it doesn't matter how you raise them, they're going to have their own peronality! That is completely God-given, not Mommy and Daddy given!
We decided to skip church this morning. Andy got a cold right after the new year. Then Katie got it last weekend. She still has a very runny and stuffy nose (with no fever.) The dr said she would act like I was killing her when I gave her saline nose drops and she wsa right about that. Those were worse than her shots! But she's getting better with them now. She still doesn't like then, but she doesn't scream like the world's coming to an end anymore when I give them to her. Now I have the cold. I think I got it the worst. I can't really take anything for it since I'm nursing and don't want to risk losing my milk. I woke up this morning and have almost lost my voice from all the coughing. Praise God for 3 day weekends!

Special Gifts
Who would've guessed I could be so artsy? I got this idea from a friend who had some really cute plates made with her son's footprint. I found a design online that I thought I might could do and I must say, I was pretty proud of myself. I didn't think I could do something like this. We made 1 for Memaw and Papaw, 1 for Mimi and Pop, and 1 for me and Andy from Katie for Christmas.
My sister, Mindy gave Katie this doll bed. I thought it looked a little like the one I used to play with when I was little and sure enough... it is! My 1st memory was when I was about 3-4 years old and I was playing "house" with one of my neighbors where we would take turns being the baby and laying in this doll bed. Mindy refinished it for me. It used to be yellow. My grandfather made it when my other sister, Allison was born in 1973. His name and the year is etched into the wood on the bottom. What a special gift!

Daycare and Jumparoo
Well today we had a staff develpment day so lunch on our own. So I went up to Katie's daycare and hung out with her for a little bit. She is doing so good there. When I got there, she was in the exersaucer. This is a new thing. She's really good now at holding her head up so Andy and I tried to put her in her jumparoo last night. She's not quite tall enough for it so we put a foot rest under her to sit on. But Andy told them at daycare this morning that they can start letting her play in the exersaucer now. She loved it.
After I ate my lunch I held her for a while then put her down for a nap because she was getting fussy. She had been up 2 1/2 hours which is a pretty long time for her. Now at home I think she knows that if she cries long enough, I'll pick her up. She usually cries for a few minutes and sometimes for about 5-10 minutes and that's all I can take before picking her up. Katie's First Illness
Well, my sweet baby girl started daycare last week and I have to say it was much harder than I expected. Katie did great. It was mommy that had a hard time with the whole separation anxiety. :) I like the daycare where she's going and am alreay feeling much better about it.
I was all ready to send her to daycare today and feeling really good about it when she got her 1st fever and cold last night. So she got an extra day home with daddy today. It never got bad enough for her to see the doctor and I think her fever is gone now. She looks and sounds MUCH better. This is the first of many colds I know. I think she'll already be ready to go back to school tomorrow. I just hope it's as easy for me tomorrow as I think it will be.
